When deputies arrived after receiving reports of multiple shots being fired in the area, they found a 39-year-old Pontiac man outside of the apartment with a gunshot wound to his hand.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said multiple bullet holes were seen around the apartment’s front entrance and the storm door had been shattered. Several spent shell casings were also found on the ground.
Inside the apartment, deputies found Jethro Jackson Jr., 53, with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Aug. 20, the sheriff’s office announced that three Pontiac men were arrested after further investigation.
Charles Andrew Black, 32, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and three counts of felony firearm.
Eric Dangelo Matthews, 26, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and three counts of felony firearm.
Felix Lavell Washington, 35, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and assault with intent to murder.
Black and Matthews were previously arrested in an unrelated investigation in 2025 and were arraigned on felony firearm charges. On Aug. 13, they were given $5,000 bonds. That case remains ongoing, the sheriff’s office said. However, their bonds were revoked due to the new charges against them.
All three were arraigned in court on Aug. 19 and their bond was denied. They are scheduled to return to court on Sept. 1.
