DETROIT – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced Friday that a planned closure of southbound I-75 in Southwest Detroit for bridge maintenance has been postponed due to the potential for severe weather.
The planned SB I-75 closure — now postponed for a future weekend — will extend from Springwells to Schaefer, and involve adding a protective surface to four bridges and an epoxy overlay to the I-75 Rouge River Bridge.
Southbound ramps to the freeway in the area will also close approximately three hours before the roadwork begins, officials said. That includes the Gordie Howe International Bridge ramp, Ambassador Bridge ramp, Vernor/I-75 Service Drive ramp, and the Clark, Springwells and Dearborn Street ramps.
Weekend roadwork on northbound I-75 from I-96 to M-10 has also been rescheduled due to the weather, according to MDOT.
