OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 13-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly stealing multiple cars and breaking into businesses in Pontiac and Waterford Township.
The investigation began after Oakland County deputies responded to a break-in at a used car dealership on Cesar Chavez Avenue in Pontiac. There, they found that the business had been broken into, along with a heavily damaged Dodge Charger and a stolen Dodge Dart.
Investigators learned that this was related to a theft at a Pontiac landscaping company during the previous two days, when two cars were reported stolen. A Chevrolet pickup truck was stolen from the business on Sept. 19 and was used to ram through a fenced parking lot. The following day, a Dodge was taken from the business and was driven to the dealership on Cesar Chavez Avenue.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said surveillance video showed a person climbing a fence of the used car dealership, breaking a window with a rock, and going into the building, where several car keys were taken. The person then got into a Dodge Charger and tried to ram through a gate. The car was heavily damaged and abandoned.
The suspect then stole a Dodge Dart from the lot and took it to a dealership in Waterford Township, where he used it to ram another gate. Police responded and found a broken window at the business. They searched the building and confirmed no one remained inside.
At a nearby dollar store, two cars in the parking lot were damaged from unsuccessful attempts to steal them.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video from several locations and identified the suspect as a 13-year-old boy.
According to the sheriff’s office, the teen has been arrested twice in 2025 in connection with car thefts in Pontiac and Waterford Township.

The boy was arrested less than 24 hours after the investigation began and was taken to the Oakland County Children’s Village.
