Wayne County Judge Wade McCree removed from bench

McCree had affair with woman who had case in his court

DETROIT – A Wayne County Circuit Court judge who had an affair with a woman who had a case in his court has been removed from the bench.

The Judicial Tenure Commission had recommended Wade McCree be removed from the bench for six years. The commission said McCree committed gross misconduct and embarrassed the judiciary. The decision to remove him from the bench came down on Wednesday.

Pictures were released of a semi-nude selfie that McCree sent of himself to a court bailiff, who has also been described as his mistress -- a woman that he allowed to be witness in a case that was in his courtroom.

Text messages were also released that McCree sent to his mistress.

"Oh yeah, I text from the bench. After last nite, its all I can do not 2 --- "under" the bench :-). U know U have a magnificent pair of legs," he wrote.

McCree has admitted mistakes but believes the punishment sought by the commission is too harsh.

"I mean, (I) was excited," McCree said.

The Supreme Court knows McCree. He was reprimanded for sending a shirtless photo of himself to a female deputy.
