More charges issued in Victory Inn crime ring; woman accused of harboring person from arrest

DETROIT – More charges are being handed down in connection to the prostitution and drug ring at the Victory Inn on Detroit’s west side.

Lena Sled is charged with concealing a person from arrest and laundering of money instruments.

Several criminal complaints have been filed in federal court charging multiple people with conspiracy, sex trafficking and drug distribution. Police from several jurisdictions and federal authorities executed a search warrant in January at the motel on Michigan Avenue.

Darrick Dernard Bell, also known as “Tone,” has been charged with multiple felonies. This most recent criminal complaint alleges Sled harbored and concealed him.

Court documents say Bell was responsible for providing sex trafficking victims with heroin and had as many as eight girls “working” for him.

An arrest warrant was issued for Bell after a grand jury indicted him March 29.

U.S. Marshals spoke with Sled April 1 and informed her about Bell's warrant. She allegedly told authorities Bell was at a room she rented on Calvert Street, known as the "Calvert House," a week prior and that Bell has driven numerous vehicles in her name.

A search warrant for the Calvert House was executed by federal agents April 14. A number of cell phones were recovered which allegedly contained evidence of communication between Sled and Bell.
