Jim Harbaugh lands 30 recruits in 2017 class

The Wolverines are expected to lock up one of the top 10 classes in the country Wednesday, with dozens of talented high school players joining the Maize and Blue.

Early enrollees

These players have already signed their letters of intent and enrolled at the University of Michigan in January. They will be allowed to practice with the team and get a head start on earning playing time as true freshmen when August rolls around (rankings based on 247 Sports composite).

WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (5*): The No. 1 player in Michigan and the top wide receiver in the entire recruiting class, Peoples-Jones is the top-ranked high school player in Harbaugh's class.

WR Tarik Black (4*): Black was the first major domino to fall in a string of elite commitments for Michigan in mid-December. The No. 1 player in Connecticut is also a top 20 receiver and top 150 overall player.

OT JaRaymond Hall (4*): Hall is the No. 8 player in Michigan and heads to Ann Arbor out of Oak Park. He helps fill a major position of need for Michigan on the offensive line.

DE Corey Malone-Hatcher (4*): The No. 6 overall player from Michigan, Malone-Hatcher comes to Ann Arbor from the west side of the state. He's the No. 20 weak-side defensive end and an overall top 300 player.

DE Donovan Jeter (4*): Jeter has been committed to Michigan since October and is one of the top strong-side defensive ends in the nation. He's also one of 247 Sports' top 300 players.

S Jaylen Kelly-Powell (4*): Another of Michigan's top five recruits, Jaylen Kelly-Powell committed to Michigan in November out of Cass Tech, where he played with Peoples-Jones.

Cesar Ruiz (4*): The No. 1 center prospect in the entire country, Ruiz joins a Michigan team that desperately needs strong offensive linemen. He's the No. 8 player in Florida and the No. 44 overall player in the class.

CB Benjamin St-Juste (4*): Harbaugh went into Canada to bring St-Juste to Michigan. The country's No. 1 player will join a young group of talented cornerbacks.

CB Ambry Thomas (4*): Thomas is the No. 2 high school player in Michigan behind Peoples-Jones, and chose the Wolverines over in-state rival Michigan State. Thomas is the No. 13 cornerback in the nation and a top 100 overall player.

LB Ben Mason (3*): Mason is the No. 32 inside linebacker in the nation, but is officially listed as an athlete on 247 Sports. He could play fullback under Harbaugh at Michigan.

S J'Marick Woods (3*): Woods is the No. 30 safety in the country and the No. 18 player from the state of Alabama. He committed to the Wolverines in March.

Committed

These players have verbally committed to the University of Michigan and are signing their official letters of intent on National Signing Day.

DT Aubrey Solomon (5*): Solomon became the second five-star of the class when he chose Michigan on National Signing Day. It's not often that five-star players from SEC country leave to play in the Big Ten, but Harbaugh pulled this one off.

LB Jordan Anthony (4*): Anthony was a big pickup for Harbaugh, who will have to replace most of his linebacking core in 2017. He's another highly ranked Florida recruit who left the state to join the Wolverines.

WR Nico Collins (4*): The final player in the class to announce his commitment, Collins left the south to join a loaded wide receiver class in Ann Arbor. Collins is the No. 5 player from Alabama and the No. 23 receiver ine class.

OT Chuck Filiaga (4*): Filiaga might be one of the most important commitments in this class, as Michigan tries to rework its offensive line. Filiaga is a big offensive tackle who left the state of Texas to come to Michigan despite offers from over a dozen of the top schools in the south.

DT James Hudson (4*): A top 10 player from Ohio, Hudson is the top defensive tackle commit in the class (so far). He dominated throughout his high school career just a short drive on US-23 south of Ann Arbor in Toledo.

DE Deron Irving-Bey (4*): Irving-Bey is the No. 4 player in Michigan and the top player in Flint this year. He's the No. 10 strong-side defensive end in the country.

WR Oliver Martin (4*): Just in case the Wolverines weren't stacked enough at wide receiver with Peoples-Jones and Black already enrolled, Harbaugh went into Iowa and left with the state's No. 1 player, giving Michigan a deadly arsenal of weapons for future quarterbacks.

QB Dylan McCaffrey (4*): Yes, Dylan is the brother of Stanford star Christian and son of former NFL wide receiver Ed. This McCaffrey is the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the nation and the No. 2 player in Colorado. He committed to Michigan nearly a year ago and figures to flourish under QB guru Harbaugh.

LB Josh Ross (4*): Ross is the No. 3 player in Michigan and a top 10 inside linebacker. The West Bloomfield native will have every chance to earn playing time early in his career at Michigan.

RB O'Maury Samuels (4*): O'Maury Samuels is the No. 21 running back in the class, but he's the top player in the state of New Mexico. He's been committed to Michigan since early April.

LB Drew Singleton (4*): Singleton is an elite outside linebacker, and the Wolverines desperately need him. New Jersey has been a pipeline for Michigan football, so it's only fitting that this year's No. 1 player in the state will wear Maize and Blue.

DE Luiji Vilain (4*): Vilain committed to Michigan back in June, and has done nothing but impress since. The No. 5 weak-side defensive end in the nation dominated the Under Armour All-America Game and could be an early contributor in Ann Arbor.

WR Brad Hawkins (3*): Hawkins was originally committed to Michigan's 2016 class, but spent a season at Suffield Academy in Connecticut. In October, the No. 4 player in New Jersey reaffirmed his commitment to the Wolverines.

OT Joel Honigford (3*): The No. 20 player in Ohio had scholarship offers from more than half the Big Ten and chose to play for Harbaugh at Michigan. He's worked his way into the top 500 in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

DT Phillip Paea (3*): Paea is one of the top defensive tackle recruits in Michigan, and the No. 13 player in the state overall. He drew interest from several West Coast schools, including USC, Washington State and Oregon.

DE Kwity Paye (3*): Kwity Paye is another talented pass rusher, and the No. 1 player in the state of Rhode Island. He's the No. 29 weak-side defensive end in the nation.

OT Andrew Stueber (3*): Stueber is another Michigan commit out of Connecticut, where Harbaugh spent plenty of time throughout the recruiting season. Offensive tackle is a major position of need for what will be a young Michigan team.

RB Kurt Taylor (3*): Kurt Taylor has been committed to Michigan since October 2015 and is the only other running back in the class. He's the type of tough, hard runner Harbaugh likes in his offensive system.

P Bradley Robbins (2*): Robbins is the No. 1 punter in the country, according to Kornblue Kicking. He'll be part of the group trying to replace starting kicker and punter Kenny Allen.
