DETROIT – Miguel Cabrera came up with a huge hit in his final Opening Day game in Detroit.

The Tigers had runners at the corners with two outs in the bottom of the third inning Thursday when Cabrera came to the dish for his second at-bat.

He fell behind in the count 1-2, but got a Chris Sale fastball up on the inner part of the plate and muscled it into center field to drive in Spencer Torkelson and give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.

Cabrera is off to a bit of a slow start this season, but it wouldn’t have felt like a true Opening Day at Comerica Park without him driving in runs.
