ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The injury bug continues to hinder the Detroit Lions franchise as they’ve lost another player to a season-ending injury.

Head coach Dan Campbell revealed that rookie wide receiver Kendrick Law suffered a torn ACL during organized team activities on Thursday (June 4) and is expected to miss significant time.

Campbell opened his media session on Thursday (June 4) by sharing the injury news, calling it an unfortunate setback for the fifth-round draft pick.

“That’s part of it, and it’s a harsh reality,” Campbell said. “But he’ll get it out of the way early, have his whole career in front of him.”

The injury cast an early shadow over what Campbell otherwise described as a productive spring for the Lions.

“I hate to start with that. It’s a bit of a negative,” Campbell said. “But everybody else, we’re doing good. Everybody else is improving.”

Detroit selected Law with the 168th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft after a collegiate career that included stops at Alabama and Kentucky.

Law appeared in 11 games as a reserve for Alabama in 2022, catching eight passes for 103 yards.

He played in 13 games, including three starts, in 2023, recording 15 receptions for 135 yards while also contributing as a kick returner.

In 2024, Law played in 10 games with five starts, totaling 10 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown, while also contributing to rushing and kick-return production.

After transferring to Kentucky for the 2025 season, he led the Wildcats with 53 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games.

Law also contributed as a runner, kick returner, and punt returner.

Known for his physical running style and ability to create yards after the catch, Law entered the NFL with a reputation as a versatile playmaker and experienced special teams contributor.

Scouts praised his strong hands, balance through contact, and kick-return ability, though some questioned whether his limited route tree would translate to a long-term NFL role.

The injury is a disappointing development for Law as he begins his professional career, but Campbell expressed confidence that the rookie will have time to recover and move forward.

Law is expected to begin rehabilitation immediately as the Lions continue offseason workouts ahead of training camp.
