WDIV leads the pack in November Sweeps

Local 4 is No. 1 in key newscasts

One day shy of the November Sweeps, WDIV-Local 4 comes out on top with first place finishes in key newscasts, afternoon programming, access (7-8 p.m.), primetime and late night programming in the November Nielsen ratings for Detroit (10/26/17 – 11/22/17).

 

WDIV Local 4’s first place newscast finishes include:

  • Local 4 News First at 4 p.m. is No. 1 in the time period with a 4.6 household rating/12 household share beating both The Now Detroit (WXYZ 4 p.m.) (1.8 HH RTG/4 HH SHR) and Judge Judy (WJBK 4 p.m.) (3.9 HH RTG/10 HH SHR). 
  • Local 4 News at 5 p.m. continues its eight-year winning streak and is No. 1 in the time period with a 6.6 household rating/14 share, beating both WXYZ (4.1 HH RTG/9 HH SHR) and WJBK (3.8 HH RTG/8 HH SHR). Local 4’s 5 p.m. newscast also wins across the board in the key demographics.
  • Local 4 News at 6 p.m. is No.1 in household ratings, garnering a 8.0 rating/16 share compared to WXYZ (6.0 HH RTG/12 HH SHR) and WJBK (3.6 HH RTG/7 HH SHR).        Local 4 News at 6 p.m. is Detroit’s undisputed No. 1 newscast, winning across the board in demographics, beating the combined delivery of WJBK and WXYZ in Adults 25-54. 
  • Local 4 News at 11 p.m. is Detroit’s No. 1 Late News (Mon-Sun) and beat WJBK’s 10 p.m. News with a 6.6 HH RTG/13 HH SHR as compared to WXYZ (4.9 HH RTG/10 HH SHR) and WJBK 10 p.m. (4.1 HH RTG/7 HH SHR) and WJBK 11 p.m. (3.3 HH RTG/7 HH SHR).  WDIV’s Late News crushes the competition across all key demographics, dominating at 11 p.m. and beats WJBK’s 10 p.m. delivery, as well.

Local 4 News Today (M-F 6-7 a.m.), anchored by Rhonda Walker, Evrod Cassimy, Jason Carr, Brandon Roux and Kim DeGiulio, beats WXYZ across the board in the key demographics.  Local 4 News Today finished November with a 2.3 rating in the key Women 25-54 demographic, while WYXZ’s 6 a.m. News finished with a 1.9 in Women 25-54 rating.
 

In other day parts, WDIV’s Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are No. 1 in the all-important access time period of 7-8 p.m., averaging an 8.1 HH RTG/14 SHR.

 

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon remains Detroit’s Late Night programming leader.

 

NBC primetime programming took first place in November. Anchored by top rated shows with The Voice, This is Us, Law & Order SVU, Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD, NBC has seen additional ratings victories with Thursday Night Football, which returned to NBC on November 9.

 

Plus, No. 1 Saturday Night Live is also delivering big ratings. Its original airings during November delivered a solid 6.2 household rating and a 15 household share, up 29% over last November. 


In addition to the November Sweeps wins, WDIV’s website, ClickOnDetroit.com, is metro Detroit’s No. 1 local media website (comScore 2017 to date).
