WDIV-TV Reports First Place Finishes in October

Local 4 is No. 1 at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

WDIV-Local 4 continues its longtime trend finishing first place in key newscasts, afternoon programming, access (7-8 p.m.), primetime and late night programming in the October Nielsen ratings for Detroit (9/28/17 – 10/25/17).

 

WDIV Local 4’s first place newscast finishes include:

  • Local 4 News First at 4 p.m. is No. 1 in the time period with a 3.9 household rating/11 household share beating both The Now Detroit (WXYZ 4 p.m.) (1.4 HH RTG/4 HH SHR) and Judge Judy (WJBK 4 p.m.) (3.2 HH RTG/9 HH SHR). 
  • Local 4 News at 5 p.m. continues its eight-year winning streak and is No. 1 in the time period with a 5.5 household rating/13 share, beating both WXYZ (3.6 HH RTG/8 HH SHR) and WJBK (3.8 HH RTG/9 HH SHR). Local 4’s 5 p.m. newscast also wins across the board in the key demographics.
  • Local 4 News at 6 p.m. is No.1 in household ratings, garnering a 6.8 rating/14 share compared to WXYZ (5.5 HH RTG/12 HH SHR) and WJBK (3.3 HH RTG/7 HH SHR).        Local 4 News at 6 p.m. is Detroit’s undisputed No. 1 newscast, winning across the board in demographics. 
  • Local 4 News at 11 p.m. is Detroit’s No. 1 Late News (Mon-Sat) and beat WJBK’s 10 p.m. News with a 5.9 HH RTG/12 HH  SHR as compared to WXYZ (4.7 HH RTG/10 HH SHR) and WJBK 10 p.m. (4.5 HH RTG/8 HH SHR) and WJBK 11 p.m. (3.4 HH RTG/7 HH SHR).  WDIV’s 11 p.m. newscast is No. 1 across the key demographics, as well.

Local 4 News Today (M-F 6-7 a.m.), anchored by Rhonda Walker, Evrod Cassimy, Brandon Roux and Kim DeGiulio, beats WXYZ across the board in the key demographics.  Local 4 News Today finished October with a 2.5 rating in the key Women 25-54 demographic, while WYXZ’s 6 a.m. News finished with a 1.3 in Women 25-54 rating.

 

In other day parts, WDIV’s Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are No. 1 in the all-important access time period of 7-8 p.m., averaging a 7.8 HH RTG/15 SHR.

 

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon remains Detroit’s Late Night programming leader.

 

NBC has come out of the gates swinging this Fall season.  Anchored by top rated primetime shows with The Voice, This is Us, Law & Order SVU, Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, NBC has seen additional ratings victories with the return of Will & Grace.

 

Will & Grace has been No. 1 since its premiere.  In October, Will & Grace has averaged a 6.6 household rating/10 household share as compared to Scandal on WXYZ (5.2 HH RTG/8 HH SHR), Thursday Night Football on WWJ (4.6 HH RTG/8 HH SHR) and Orville on WJBK (3.7 HH RTG/6 HH SHR), making NBC Thursdays “Must-See” TV!

 

Plus, No. 1 Saturday Night Live is also delivering big ratings. Its original airings during October delivered a solid 6.0 household rating and a 15 household share, up 13% over last October. 

 

In addition to the October Sweeps wins, WDIV’s website, ClickOnDetroit.com, is metro Detroit’s No. 1 local media website (comScore 2017 to date).
