Police believe a mother driving a minivan that crashed with another vehicle and a barricade on Southfield Freeway, killing a toddler and injuring an infant, was driving drunk.

Police say a tip that claimed a student at Allen Park High School was armed with a weapon Wednesday was found to be not credible after an initial investigation.

A man’s SUV slid into the Rouge River when he got out along the banks to use the bathroom outside, police said.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – A photo of a suspected car thief posted to Facebook helped police in Allen Park apprehend the suspect 20 minutes later. The suspected thief used the victim’s car keys to locate the car while the victim was working at Fairlane Mall and had no idea the car was being taken. Police said the suspect found the victim’s jacket and took the keys to his 2014 Buick Regal. Allen Park police had surveillance video of the suspect and one clear image. Police said Strunk was remorseful but would only say he left the car in Ecorse with the keys still inside.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – A 35-year-old man is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct after Allen Park police said he met a 12-year-old girl on Snapchat. Allen Park police investigated when the girl’s parents reported her missing on Aug. 19. Hodges, who is HIV positive, is charged with four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct along with another count involving someone under 13. It began when the girl was chatting on the app with Hodges, who she thought was 19 years old. The relationship started to come out when the girl’s parents reported her missing.
