chicagotribune.comIndiana-Purdue cancel rivalry game again; bowl called off
The Indiana-Purdue rivalry game has been canceled again. It will be the first time in-state rivals have not met in a football season since the Spanish flu pandemic forced cancellations in 1918 and 19. Now, their rivalry game for the Old Oaken Bucket has been canceled for the second time in two weeks — and the third time this season. “As we stated last week, we know the history and tradition of this great rivalry game and how much it means to our current students, alumni and fans," they said Tuesday. The Hoosiers haven't won a bowl game since 1991 and Allen believes that would be a good way to wrap up a historic season.

When it comes to awarding the Old Oaken Bucket, the Big Ten went 0 for 2 in 2020. For the second straight week, Indiana and Purdue mutually agreed to cancel their game due to COVID-19 issues. It also means that only the Big Ten’s opening week in October went off as scheduled. Both universities worked extremely hard in an effort to play, but at this time it just isn’t possible. The original plan was for a “championship week,” but the conference opted to attempt to preserve some rivalries that had been canceled this fall.

Michigan football’s three-decade win streak over Indiana is over
Michigan dropped its second straight game on Saturday, a 38-21 loss to No. Before Saturday, Michigan had won 24 straight games — an impressive streak that began in 1988 and spanned three decades.
