33 cats rescued from Monroe home after mail carrier notices some on roof

MONROE, Mich. – Officials rescued 33 cats from what appeared to be an abandoned home in Monroe after a mail carrier noticed some of them on the roof. Penny Bly, the shelter director of Friends of Companion Animals, said a mail carrier called Monroe County Animal Control after seeing cats on the roof of the home. In total, 33 cats were rescued from the home and are being held at the Friends of Companion Animals location in Monroe. “FOCA’s main priority from the start is caring for the cats,” Bly said.

Weve received a long list of firsthand accounts from Friday (Aug. 21, 2020) evenings earthquake in southeastern Michigan. My house shook, but not enough to knock down anything that was on display. I asked my husband if he felt the shaking and he said no, but he guessed that if I felt it, it had to have been an earthquake. The east side of my house felt like something had hit my house. About a dozen earthquakes felt in Monroe County have been noted since 1876 in The Monroe Evening News / The Monroe News. An earthquake shook the region Friday night near Detroit Beach, startling people across southeast Michigan and into northwest Ohio. But Monroe County Central Dispatch confirmed that the aircraft was just a drone. That involved a 4.2- magnitude earthquake near Kalamazoo, and it was noticed in several states.
