Michigan woman who shot cat with crossbow bolt gets probation, chance to avoid felony record
TAWAS CITY, MI — An East Tawas woman who shot her neighbor’s cat with a crossbow — a grisly wound the feline survived — has the chance to avoid having a felony stain her record. If the defendant successfully completes the terms of the judge’s sentence, he or she avoids having a criminal record. The conviction stems from Shipman shooting a crossbow bolt into an orange cat named Oliver, owned by Wilber Township resident Eric R. Erickson. After discovering Oliver in such a wounded state, Erickson called several neighbors to see if any of them knew how his cat had been shot.
