Firecracker 5K returns to Ann Arbor July 4

The Kapnick Ann Arbor Firecracker 5K will move to the Briarwood Mall to promote social distancing with a kick-off of 9 a.m. on July 4.

Here are 4 fun ways to celebrate July 4th this year

From meal deals at Ann Arbor restaurants to virtual parades, weve found four ways to celebrate from home. Check these out:Virtual Jaycees ParadeFrom 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, the Ann Arbor Jaycees will hold a virtual parade in lieu of its annual in-person parade through downtown Ann Arbor. Ypsilanti will also host a virtual parade and flag ceremony from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Facebook. Many Ann Arbor restaurants are open all weekend, or have modified hours, and are serving takeout options with delivery or curbside service. Visit one of Ann Arbors 163 parks or the Ann Arbor Skatepark.

Kick start July 4 with Ann Arbor Sports Commission Firecracker 5K, Mile Fun Run

ANN ARBOR - Join in on the fun early Thursday with the Ann Arbor Sports Commission Firecracker 5K and Mile Fun Run downtown. The festivities start at 8 a.m. and include:Firecracker 5KMile Fun RunKids' 100-meter dashRay's Hot Dog Eating ContestThat's right, hot dogs. Twenty competitors will try to chow down four hotdogs in 76 seconds before starting their 5K. According to the center, funds raised will go directly toward its community outreach and education efforts. The center is looking for volunteers to run or walk on its team, with the team name U-M Addiction Center & Treatment Services.
