Just hours after Genesee Valley Center posted on its Facebook page that the mall would reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27, after closing on Monday, Dec. 26, it announced that stores without private entrances had been closed again until further notice.

The gathering will take place at Sisters Supporting Sisters, located inside the Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township. Shields is the only boxer in history, female or male, to hold all four major world titles in boxing—WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO—simultaneously, in three weight classes. Marshall was the only fighter to have beaten Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, back in 2012 in an amateur bout. “We’re looking forward to honoring her,” Tanisha Thompson said, owner of Sisters Supporting Sisters.

The county Drain Commissioner’s Office shut off the mall’s water at 7 p.m. Wednesday after the water line break caused fluctuations in water pressure for surrounding homes and businesses along Miller Road from Linden Road to I-75. Namdar Realty Group, which owns the shopping center, referred questions about the water line break to Gary Thomas, general manager of the mall, who declined to comment Wednesday. Genesee Valley’s Facebook notice does not indicate when the shopping center is expected to reopen. Namdar, which is based in New York, purchased Genesee Valley two years ago.
