The Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly signed former Detroit Tigers catcher Grayson Greiner to a minor-league contract, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The deal also includes an invitation to join the organization’s major league spring training camp. At the triple-A level, Greiner added 24 hits, one home run, nine RBI, 13 walks and 49 strikeouts in 119 at-bats. In his major league career, Greiner has recorded a .201 batting average with nine home runs, 46 RBI and 42 walks in 477 plate appearances. Former Detroit Tigers catcher John Hicks has signed a minor-league deal with the Chicago Cubs, according to the team’s transactions log. It’s his third club since being let go by the Tigers after the 2019 season. Hicks, 32, spent the COVID-shortened 2020 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and was with the Texas Rangers in 2021. Hicks hit 13 of his 32 career home runs in 2019, including a dramatic one to finish to the season.
