Holland-based creamery Hudsonville Ice Cream has once again partnered with Little Debbie to release two more flavors inspired by the classic snacks. Ice cream based on Unicorn Cakes and Star Crunch will be hitting shelves in late May at Walmart stores on the frozen endcap. Unicorn Cakes - Sparkling Strawberry: Strawberry flavored ice cream combines with a blue icing swirl, purple sugar crystals and pound cake pieces to create a flavor that is sure to dazzle and delight. Star Crunch: Caramel ice cream pairs perfectly with thick fudge and choco crispies for a stellar, out-of-this-world taste. Unlike the two new seasonal ice creams, which are only available for a limited time, the seven classic Little Debbie-inspired flavors will continue to be available year-round.

These new flavors follow the wildly popular Christmas Tree Cakes ice cream, which was introduced in November and became an immediate sensation for the holiday season. All seven flavors will be available year-round, according to Hudsonville Ice Cream.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- High school students from Kalamazoo Public Schools are giving back to their community this weekend with a food drive to help those in need. Students from Loy Norrix High School and Kalamazoo Central High School are holding the Kalamazoo Youth Food Drive to collect food and monetary donations for Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes Saturday, March 6, according to a press release from Loaves & Fishes. The food drive will be held at the Harding’s West Main location at 5161 W. Main St. in Kalamazoo, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. “We continued to be amazed by the philanthropic nature of young people in our community,” said Greta Faworski, resource development director at Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes. HOLLAND, MI -- A Holland restaurant owner is vowing to stay open even after a judge issued a bench warrant for her arrest for repeatedly ignoring a coronavirus-related suspension to her food license. Pavlos-Hackney, owner of Marlena’s Bistro and Pizzeria, also posted a message about the hearing on the restaurant’s Facebook page and said she was fined $7,500. She has refused to shut down food service despite a decision by state officials in late January to suspend her food license. Ingham County Circuit Judge Wanda Stokes on Feb. 25 issued a temporary restraining order against Marlena’s Bistro and, on Thursday, ruled it would become a preliminary injunction.

KENT COUNTY, MI – A Kentwood firefighter was treated for burns Thursday morning, March 4, after a roaring barn fire on 52nd Street SE. Firefighters responded quickly but the large barn was soon engulfed in flames. Firefighters managed to keep flames from spreading to several outbuildings in the immediate area. The fire happened at a farm in the 2400 block of 52nd Street SE, between Breton Road and Stauffer Avenue. Firefighters, using three nearby fire hydrants, closed 52nd Street while responding to the fire.

HOLLAND, MI – Each year, Hudsonville Ice Cream gives away free ice cream on Pint Day, a one-of-a-kind ice cream holiday created by the Holland-based ice cream maker in 2019 to celebrate its ice cream pint flavors. But this year, the Holland-based creamery is hosting its largest single-day ice cream giveaway in history by offering up 25,000 free pints to the public on Saturday. The Pint Day giveaway will begin in the morning of March 6 and details on how to claim one of 25,000 free pints will be available on Hudsonville’s social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
