Woman faces second-degree murder charge for crash that killed Cranbrook Kingswood football coach
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Huntington Woods woman is facing a second-degree murder charge for a crash that killed a Cranbrook Kingswood football coach. Prosecutors said Wendy Ellen Bass was drunk behind the wheel when she struck and killed Ben Jones, 30, on the I-696 Service Drive in August. Jones was going to begin his second season as head coach before he was killed. Jones was killed. Bass was arraigned on second-degree murder charges and operating under the influence causing death and reckless driving causing death.
Driver leads Warren police on chase, speeding to 100 miles per hour
WARREN, Mich. – Two people were arrested in Warren after a traffic stop turned into a police chase. Warren police were attempting to stop the vehicle on Van Dyke Avenue near Civic Center Drive. The driver then does a donut in the middle of the road and nearly slams into the squad car. The vehicle weaved in and out of traffic, reaching 100 miles per hour, traveling south on Van Dyke. Warren police have two people in custody, including one individual who police said is a felon in possession of a firearm.
