Ex-teacher sentenced to up to 30 years in prison for sexual assault of former student
A former teacher and youth sports coach will serve up to 30 years in prison after he was convicted of five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct earlier this year. Jason Dean, 36, was sentenced Thursday in Oakland County Circuit Court to between nine and 30 years in prison after he entered a no contest plea in April on the charges. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but is treated as such when it comes to sentencing. Dean was charged in the case after police began investigating a claim made by a former student of his that reported having a sexual relationship with Dean in 2010. Dean was the victim’s coach in basketball and soccer at the time and was a teacher at Cedar Crest Academy in Springfield Township.mlive.com
