FLINT, MI -- The city has declared a snow and ice emergency with a winter storm bearing down on the area, an action that means vehicles are prohibited from parking on city streets from 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, until 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3.

The emergency means City Hall will be closed Wednesday but waste collection is expected to continue as scheduled, the announcement says.
During the snow and ice emergency, vehicles are prohibited from parking on the public streets so that trucks can plow and salt.
Several mid-Michigan school districts in Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee and Sanilac counties have already announced they’ll be closed on Wednesday.
