WALKER, MI -- Meijer officials announced all its stores across the Midwest will offer free home delivery on orders more than $35 for nearly two weeks. Company officials said Monday, Jan. 17, the program begins this week and runs through Jan. 29. Customers can shop online or by using the Meijer app and schedule a delivery time. The service is being offered for free to help customers endure the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, said Christina Fecher, Meijer’s corporate communications senior manager. Meijer is headquartered in Walker and operates more than 250 stores across six states, the majority in Michigan.

ANN ARBOR, MI – The University of Michigan Board of Regents on Saturday, Jan. 15 announced they were removing Dr. Mark Schlissel as president after investigating an inappropriate relationship he had with a university employee. On Dec. 8, 2021, the board received an anonymous complaint that Schlissel was involved in an alleged sexual affair with a university employee, according to a termination letter. “After an investigation, we learned that Dr. Schlissel, over a period of years, used his University email account to communicate with that subordinate in a manner inconsistent with the dignity and reputation of the University,” the board said in a press release. Schlissel was removed from office effective immediately. Former University of Michigan president Mary Sue Coleman will serve as interim president.
