MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL

Saturday was a big day for six Michigan High School cross country runners. The student-athletes participated in the annual Champ Sports Cross Country National Championships in San Diego, and all six finished 18th or better.

A lawsuit has been filed against the dean of a Michigan high school after a viral video shows alleged child abuse.

High school students in Michigan may be able to earn college credits at no cost to them through programs offered by the state.

Michigan High School competitive cheer programs have been competing since November, though the major competitions really took off in mid-December and have continued in January. Teams now have a month to go before district competitions begin around the state, all with the goal of reaching the state finals. Those will be held March 4 (divisions 1 and 4) and March 5 (divisions 2 and 3) at the DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids.

Students at 38 Michigan high schools are participating in the “Strive for a Safer Drive” peer-led traffic safety campaign.

Michigan High School gymnastics has its share of perennial powerhouses – Farmington, Rockford and Grand Ledge are a couple that come to mind – but there can also be surprises. Just ask the team from Jackson.
