‘That Saginaw-bred mentality’ has Draymond Green celebrating a fourth NBA title

When Draymond Green silenced Boston Celtics fans Thursday, his former high school teammates and coaches were not surprised. Green, the former Saginaw High and Michigan State star, won his fourth NBA championship, helping the Golden State Warriors earn a 103-90 win over the Celtics in Game 6. “He’s changed the NBA,” Saginaw High basketball coach Julian Taylor said. He wasn’t highly recruited out of high school. “In high school, you wouldn’t have dreamed Day Day was going to win four NBA titles or Darvin was going to be a head coach in the NBA.

Comedy show is first in-person event at Michigan Theatre since start of COVID-19

JACKSON, MI -- The Michigan Theatre of Jackson is hosting a comedy show as its first in-person event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The Laugh Your Mask Off Comedy Show is set for 8 p.m. Friday, April 23. Only 252 tickets are being sold in order to follow COVID-19 regulations set by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Steve Tucker, Michigan Theatre executive director, said. Seats are being distanced by about eight feet and audience members are required to wear a mask until seated, he said. Tickets are $25 per person for the lower level and $20 per person for the balcony and are available on the Michigan Theatre website.

Report: Former Red Wings defenseman Mike Green to retire from hockey

Mike Green plans to retire from hockey amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report from The Athletic. The former Detroit Red Wings defenseman said he is considering other things that I feel called to do.Green, 34, joined the Red Wings in 2015. He had 11 points in 48 games played with the Red Wings this season with a -32 rating. He was traded to Ken Hollands Edmonton Oilers in February as the Oilers were making a push for the playoffs. Overall, Green recorded 501 points in 880 career NHL games.
