That’s the three digit number that has been adopted by Monroe County and many other communities across the country to help the public reach emergency dispatchers. The message when introducing the option was “Call when you can, text when you can’t” “We are pleased that we are able to launch this service in Monroe County,” said Donna Kuti, Director of Monroe County Central Dispatch. “The 911 network is designed to be fully redundant, resilient and survivable as defined by the latest FCC guidelines.”In addition to text-to-911, Monroe County Central Dispatch utilizes a language translation service to assist non-English speaking callers when they dial 911.
