ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The body of an Orion Township woman was left in her bedroom for more than three weeks until authorities issued a welfare check Sunday. According to authorities, at about 11:30 a.m. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on Conklin Road for a welfare check after someone believed there was a dead body within the home. Deputies said Animal Control was called to the scene for the removal of two dogs that were preventing Deputies from entering the home. When deputies made entry into the home, they said they found a deceased woman in an upstairs bedroom and a deceased dog in the basement. Authorities said the daughter told the deputies she was overwhelmed and was not emotionally prepared to deal with the death.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 24-year-old man was taken into police custody Friday morning after biting an Oakland County deputy. According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to Johnny Black’s Public House, located on Baldwin Road in Orion Township, just before 1 a.m. due to an intoxicated person. Police said the deputies provided several requests to back away while they continued their investigation, but the man did not comply. Police said a deputy attempted to escort the man away from the investigation when he pushed the deputy and while attempted to secure the man in handcuffs, the “highly intoxicated” man bit the deputy on his arm, drawing blood. The 24-year-old man was taken into custody and lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending the issuance of a criminal charge.

A perfect way to do that is to feast at a food truck rally! The Michigan MEGA Food Truck Rally is happening this Saturday, July 4th at Canterbury Village in Orion Township. Unlike last year, there will be no tables or chairs, guests are expected to walk around the park at a safe distance, going from food stand to food stand. Currently, there are 25 food trucks expected to be in attendance, and they may add a few more before the event this Saturday. Galindo’s “A Taste of Mexico” food truck is returning for its second year at the rally.

King's Island amusement park in Ohio will unveil its latest ride, Orion, next spring -- featuring a 300-foot drop. That qualifies it as a "giga" roller coaster, one of just seven in the world with a drop between 300 and 399 feet, according to King's Island. After that initial drop, the ride features seven more hills, speeds as high as 91 mph, and more than a mile of track. Orion will be the park's tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster, lasting three minutes. King's Island, which says it's the largest amusement and water park in the Midwest, is also home to the longest wooden roller coaster in the world, The Beast.

NASA has dubbed this path back to the moon Artemis, after Apollo's twin sister in Greek mythology. NASA is calling this the Artemis program in honor of Apollo's twin sister in Greek mythology, the goddess of the Moon. Other factors of the design represent the Earth, the moon and our trajectory from the moon to Mars. Currently, the focus is on the moon, but NASA sees these concepts as workable for a Mars mission, as well. Astronauts will launch on Artemis 2, and the first woman and next man to walk on the moon will launch on Artemis 3.
