Red Wings offense stifled in first game back: A few bright spots
DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings were a team without any real offensive threat in their first game in about 10 months Thursday night. However, there were a few bright spots for the new-look Red Wings, a team with a list of additions to the lineup. Aho leads Hurricanes to 7-3 win over Red Wings
RALEIGH, N.C. Sebastian Aho had two goals and an assist to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 7-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night. Andrei Svechnikov, Nino Neiderreiter, Martin Necas, Brock McGinn and Teuvo Teravainen also scored to help the Hurricanes win their third straight, all at home. The teams were tied 1-1 after 20 minutes before Aho scored twice in Carolinas four-goal second period. Manthas power-play goal pulled Detroit to 3-2 at 8:02, but Necas restored Carolinas two-goal lead just 26 seconds later. Aho made it 5-2 with his fifth with 8:57 left, and Bertuzzi pulled the Red Wings back within two a little more than five minutes later.
