Officials say the 8-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself in the face is recovering in the hospital.

The murder of a 16-year-old boy remains unsolved more than eight months after he was found dying on a Detroit street.

Police said the man jumped out of the vehicle and fled the scene, but a police cruiser in the area was able to take him into custody.

HARPER WOODS, Mich. A family is looking for answers after a woman was found unresponsive in police custody in Harper Woods on Wednesday. Pricilla Slater, 38, was found unresponsive in a holding cell around 12:35 p.m. by Harper Woods Department of Public Safety personnel, officials said. A St. John Hospital physician pronounced the woman dead at 12:45 p.m., officials said. Slater was transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. Harper Woods officials say the Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Sunday outside the Taco Bell on Eight Mile Road near Ryan Road, according to authorities. But Rice and Walker were planning to rob the man instead of sell him marijuana, police said. When the two men arrived, they fired shots into the car, striking Richards, according to officials. After the shooting, Rice and Walker dragged the driver out of the Mercedes, took his Rolex, robbed him and took the car, according to authorities. Walker is charged with felony murder, carjacking, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm and two felony firearm violations.
