The family of a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by former Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim in 2019 has agreed to settle a lawsuit against Boeheim and the university.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A second young elephant has died at a central New York zoo despite frantic efforts by staff to combat a lethal virus, zoo officials said Friday. The 5-year-old male elephant died early Friday morning, days after the sudden death Tuesday of his younger brother, Ajay. Ajay died just before his second birthday. Both died from Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpes Virus, a strain of herpes that targets Asian elephants. The zoo, one of 11 approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to breed Asian elephants, has six adult elephants.

The National Football Foundation on Tuesday announced the 78 players and seven coaches from major college football who are up for selection to the Atlanta-based Hall of Fame. There also are 99 players and 33 coaches from outside the highest level of college football eligible for induction. The College Hall of Fame class of 2021 will be announced early next year.

Well, in this case, party like it’s 1985, but regardless, you’ll be dancing to some classic Prince hits, thanks to his official YouTube channel. A live concert of Prince and his legendary band, The Revolution -- in Syracuse, New York in 1985 toward the end of their “Purple Rain” tour -- will be available to stream on YouTube all weekend beginning Friday, May 14 and continuing through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 17. Viewers can donate money while watching the stream, and Google will match it. The concert was originally released as a VHS back in the day, so Prince fans who have been there from the very beginning might have seen this show. It should be a treat for newer Prince fans who never got to see the man himself in action, especially at the height of his career, when “Purple Rain” was first released.

DETROIT Police are searching for three people wanted in connection with a carjacking that happened Sunday around 2:15 a.m. in the 17100 block of Syracuse in Detroit. A 58-year-old man was inside a Chevy Equinox when an unknown armed man approached the vehicle and ordered him out. Both the armed man and two other men got in the vehicle and drove off north of Syracuse. The armed man and main carjacker is described as black with a medium complexion between 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, thin, and was wearing all black and armed. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Michigan has a rare September bye this weekend, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of meaningful college football to be played. There are no ranked matchups for the first time since Week 7 of the 2017 season. Four top 10 teams lost that weekend, including No. 2 Clemson, who just happens to be playing the same upset-minded Syracuse team this weekend. That game didn't make this list because Syracuse just coughed up 63 points to Maryland last weekend, and everyone outside the Clemson fan base has seen enough of the Tigers pounding bad ACC teams over the last few years.

But one spring night in 1989, hanging out in New York City's Central Park, would completely knock him off course. Richardson, along with four others, Korey Wise, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam and Raymond Santiago, would come to be known as the Central Park Five. The Black Knights went 11-2 last season and arrived in Ann Arbor on a 10-game winning streak. During the preseason and leading up to the game, Army was a popular upset pick. Michigan's biggest play against the Black Knights was a Michael Barrett pass to Daxton Hill on a fake punt. But Michigan is supposed to have the athletes to run away from the Black Knights on offense. A schedule that includes Wisconsin, Penn State, Maryland, Iowa, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State has never looked more daunting.
