Sources tell Local 4 that police were pursuing a suspect driving a reportedly stolen Dodge Ram when it crashed into another vehicle.

Amir Khalid, 41, of Canton, was sentenced this week for his role in an August 2025 crash that killed two young sisters and their grandmother in Detroit.

Neither the trooper or the woman driving the other vehicle were injured in the collision.

Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer may have fallen asleep prior to the crash.

Amir Khalid, 41, of Canton, was found guilty this month on three counts of reckless driving causing death, and one count of drag racing, according to court records.
