The book will be released in Messier's native Canada by Simon & Schuster Canada. He is among the all-time leaders in regular season points, regular season games played and playoff points. In 2007, the NHL started the Mark Messier Leadership Award for setting an example on and off the ice.
Walter Gretzky, father of NHL star Wayne Gretzky, dies at 82

Wayne Gretzky said in a social media post Thursday night that his father battled Parkinsonโs disease and other health issues the past few years. โItโs with deep sadness that Janet and I share the news of the passing of my dad,โ Wayne Gretzky said. As Wayneโs star ascended, Walter remained a blue-collar symbol of a devoted hockey parent in a country filled with them. โSometimes, I swear to you, I have to pinch myself to make sure Iโm not dreaming,โ Walter wrote in his 2001 autobiography โWalter Gretzky.
Dustin Johnson withdraws from Pebble Beach Pro-Am

John Muckler, coach who won 5 Cups with Oilers, dies at 86
(AP Photo/Don Heupel, File)EDMONTON, AB โ John Muckler, who coached four NHL teams and won five Stanley Cup championships with the Edmonton Oilers, has died. He joined Edmonton in 1982 as an assistant coach under Glen Sather and won five Stanley Cups with the organization from 1984-90, the last one as head coach. When the Midland, Ontario, native left Edmonton, he served as director of operations and head coach for the Buffalo Sabres from 1991-95. Muckler also was head coach of the New York Rangers from 1997-2000, and spent 35 games in charge of the 1968-69 Minnesota North Stars. He became general manager of the Ottawa Senators in 2001 and helped build a team that reached the 2007 Stanley Cup final, where the Senators lost to Anaheim.
Johnson's tears for a green jacket and major validation
Johnson grew up about an hour away in South Carolina, and the Masters is the one major every Southern kid dreams about winning. Johnson already had become owner of a label not talked about enough: The best player to have only one major. He went from a 12-foot eagle putt for the win to a three-putt par to finish one shot behind. And then he delivered the key shot, an 8-iron down the slope to a pin tucked on the corner shelf. It will be the shortest time any Masters champion gets to keep the green jacket with him.
Dustin Johnson out of CJ Cup after positive coronavirus test
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. โ Dustin Johnson became the most prominent player to test positive for the coronavirus since golf resumed in June, forcing him to withdraw Tuesday from the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek. The PGA Tour said in a statement that Johnson notified officials he was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and was given another test that came back positive. 1 player in the world and the reigning PGA Tour player of the year after winning the FedEx Cup for the first time. Johnson is the 12th player to test positive at a tournament or at home since the PGA Tour resumed its schedule on June 8. Winkle said Johnson came out to Las Vegas early to practice, and he received a negative test on Sunday.

1989: Wayne Gretzky becomes the all-time leading points scorer in the NHL, passing Gordie Howe's 1,850 career points with goal to tie a game between his current team, the Los Angeles Kings, and his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, at 4-4.
