Winter weather advisory issued for Metro Detroit; 3-5 inches of snow expected

DETROIT – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Metro Detroit with 3-5 inches of snow expected by Monday night.

The advisory takes effect at 4 a.m. Monday and will last until 7 p.m.

Snow will overspread the region early Monday morning and persist through much of the afternoon. Temperatures will hold steady in the upper 20s and low 30s in the morning before gradually dropping during the afternoon.

The National Weather Service has also issued a winter storm watch for Sanilac and St. Clair counties until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Around 4 to 9 inches of snow is possible in both counties with a foot or more along the Lake Huron shoreline where snow could accumulate to several inches an hour.
