Wednesday storms bring risk of flooding, tornado, hail, damaging winds

4Warn Weather – The Local 4 News team is monitoring conditions across Southeast Michigan on Wednesday as potentially severe storms are expected to move across the region, possibly causing tornadoes, flooding, damaging winds and hail.

All of southern Michigan has been placed under a slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday, April 5. In Southeast Michigan, a tornado watch has been issued until 4 p.m.

The biggest chance for severe weather is before 3 p.m. There are two waves of storms expected Wednesday, but the second wave is likely to be less severe. Click here for the latest forecast.

Metro Detroit could receive 2-3 inches of rain, posing flooding concerns, as the Great Lakes Water Authority says its regional system is already “near capacity given recent heavy rain events.”

Threats of severe weather should diminish after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
