4Warn Weather – Although temperatures are near normal in Metro Detroit, the wind is making it feel much cooler.

Temperatures are down from Saturday’s record-warmth as cool air flows over the Great Lakes region from Central Canada. Monday’s temperatures peaked in the mid 30s in Detroit, or a few degrees shy of the average high of 38 degrees. Wind chill values made it feel like the lower 20s in some communities, and the wind was expected to increase on Tuesday.

Monday night

Monday night, clouds will decrease and leave the region with partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will be around 30 degrees.

Tuesday

Winds will pick up as a cold front approaches the area on Tuesday. Sustained westerly winds will be 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Besides being breezy, Southeast Michigan can expect a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the lower 40s.

Midweek

Better chances for sunshine will arrive Wednesday as a high-pressure system dominates our weather. Mostly sunny skies are likely until Friday, which will see clouds building later in the day. Highs will be in the upper 30s on Wednesday with lows in the lower to mid 20s. Thursday and Friday will warm into the lower to mid 40s with lows in the lower 30s.

Weekend forecast

Highs will be comparable, and rise to the mid 40s, over the weekend. The difference is that it will be mostly cloudy with slight chances of rain on Saturday and possibly a stray sprinkle over the Thumb on Sunday.

The majority of December is expected to have temperatures leaning above average.
