TEASEABLE ELEMENTS:

  • Clouds stick around into Christmas Eve Night, cold temperatures remaining
  • A mix of sunshine and clouds with cold temperatures for Christmas Day
  • Freezing rain moves into the region for Friday morning into early afternoon
    • There is the potential for ice accumulation of 0.05″ to 0.10″ before Friday afternoon
  • Clouds stick around into the first part of the weekend
  • Rain Showers return for Sunday
  • Much colder temperatures for the last few days of 2025
  • Snow chances return to the forecast for Tuesday and into Wednesday

After a little bit of sunshine and some cloud cover on Wednesday, we are going to keep the dry weather in the forecast for most of us through the overnight and into a new Christmas Day on Thursday.

With a weak disturbance moving through the region and shortly before midnight into the early portions of Christmas morning, areas along and south of I-94 could see an isolated shower, but most places will remain dry.

Thursday

We will break up the cloud cover by the time we get to sunrise, and expect partly cloudy skies for the majority of the day on Christmas Day and Thursday.

High temperatures are warming into the low 40s by Thursday afternoon.

Expect the clouds to increase Thursday night and early on Friday morning in advance of our next round of winter weather moving into the region, and this one looks to be more ice than anything else.

Friday

An area of low pressure work south of the region working throughout the day on Friday, with a warm front lifting north toward the region, and precipitation moving in with that frontal boundary, we will be on the north side of that frontal boundary, which means this event will be primarily freezing rain due to temperatures being very close to that freezing mark into the lower 30s.

As of now, most of the region is expecting 0.05″ to 0.10″ of ice accumulation through early Friday afternoon, which will be enough to make the roads slick and icy for the first part of the day on Friday.

Due to a forecast of freezing rain and ice accumulation on Friday, we have issued a 4Warn Weather Alert for Friday morning through early Friday afternoon.

Once the system moves off to the east by Friday afternoon and early Friday evening, we will keep the cloud cover in the forecast Friday night and into the start of the weekend on Saturday.

Saturday

High temperature is dropping right around the freezing Mark Friday night, then warming back into the low 40s for the start of the weekend on Saturday.

Sunday

Our next chance of rain moves into the forecast by late Saturday night and continues into the end of the weekend on Sunday.

We could end this system with a mix of rain and snow showers by late Sunday night. High temperatures back into the low 40s on Sunday will drop into the upper teens Sunday night and early on Monday morning as colder air moves into the region.

Next week

Try Weather sticks around, looking ahead into the start of next week on Monday, as well as into the day on Tuesday. Mostly cloudy skies can be expected both days.

Temperatures are running much colder than we’re looking at for at least the next few days. High temperatures are only warming into the middle 20s, looking into the start of next week.

Then, looking ahead to the end of 2025 for New Year’s Eve on Wednesday, we bring snow chances back into the forecast with a few disturbances rolling into the region.

High temperatures remaining in the mid to upper 20s by Wednesday afternoon.
