Rain overtakes Southeast Michigan this evening and continues overnight

4Warn Weather - Most of Sunday was pleasant across Southeast Michigan. The day started with bright sunshine before cloud cover increased throughout the day. As a low pressure system moves through the Ohio Valley, we’ll see not just clouds but also rain overnight and into Monday.

Rain will overtake Southeast Michigan throughout the evening. A few rumbles of thunder are possible but nothing severe is expected.

By the late-night hours, we’ll be seeing showers across the area.

Between midnight and 6 a.m. we could see pockets of heavy rain.

Showers will linger into Monday morning.

Rain is expected to taper off midday.

By this time, most will have picked up around 1″ of rain, but those closer to the southern state border could see closer to 1.5″ of rain. North of Detroit we’ll see lesser amounts.

Clouds will decrease, giving way to some sun Monday afternoon. After starting the day in the mid 50s, highs will reach the lower 70s.

Great weather is expected for the Ford Fireworks show in Detroit. You may want to bring a light jacket if you’ll be heading toward the waterfront early and staying late.

Tuesday will be beautiful with mostly sunny skies and highs near 80°. We’ll turn a bit warmer to end the week.
