Metro Detroit weather forecast: Rain and thunder chances in SE Michigan

Radar shows Friday morning rain and isolated thundershowers moving into SE Lower Michigan. The showers are only scattered during the early morning, and may be a little heavier in our North Zone. We expect more moisture to feed into our area with another approaching cool front. All that said, shower chances will persist through the late morning and early afternoon. Temps in the low 50s as you head out and with some partly sunny skies this afternoon, highs will try to reach near 70 degrees in spots. It will be cooler 60s most of the day with winds WNW 7-17 Gusting 22 MPH today.

Your weekend looks fabulous all across our beautiful state and the entire Great Lakes Region. Both Saturday and Sunday mornings will be cool in the 40s and some may be flirting with the 30s far west and north of Detroit. But sunshine will make it look and feel like a classic Michigan Fall weekend. There’s a brief shot of cooler air coming behind today’s cool front, so temps will only hit the mid 60s tomorrow. But Sunday sun will easily help highs reach 70 degrees or a bit warmer.

Speaking of warmer... temps will be taking off again next week. Sunshine and warmer numbers Monday with highs in the mid 70s and we could see 80 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a shot at showers late Wednesday and into Thursday next week. You can track sky conditions, and our next storm chances with our Local4Casters app.
