MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A man is accused of stabbing a stranger multiple times at a motel in Macomb County.
Eric Dewayne Williams, 49, of Port Huron, was charged with assault with intent to murder, tampering with evidence and habitual offender - fourth offense.
Williams allegedly stabbed a victim three times in the abdomen outside the Eastland Motel in Eastpointe. Prosecutors said he ran away from the scene but later returned, where he was then arrested. A weapon was not recovered.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Williams and the victim do not know each other.
Williams was arraigned in court on Aug. 11, and his bond was set at $1 million.
He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 19 at 8 a.m. for a probable cause conference.
