“As police officers, we see firsthand how the holidays can be particularly hard for some,” Chief Frank Nastasi said. “This programs gives us the opportunity to come together with community partners to help our residents in need.”

Sponsors can “adopt” a family or donate cash or gift cards. Struggling families and individuals in financial need get holiday gifts and food delivered to them through the program.

Troy police work with community organizations to identify residents to benefit from the program, including children who wouldn’t otherwise receive gifts during the holidays. Officers and volunteers deliver the gifts before Christmas.

Alliance Mobile Health and Faith Lutheran Church are among the contributors to the program.

Monetary donations can be made in the form of a check made out to Alliance Mobile Health. Checks can be dropped off at the Troy Police Department at 500 West Big Beaver Road.

Troy police are matching sponsors with families. Anyone who wants to contribute should contact Officer Greg Pokley at pokleyga@troymi.gov or 248-680-7223 by Nov. 25.
