Hutch Heroes: A family commitment

DETROIT – When Aidan Hutchinson walks into his games, he is always carrying his signature water jug.

This season, when you see it, look closely at who is written on it. The names are the sick children that Aidan Hutchinson and his family visit at area hospitals including C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.

“Aidan’s favorite thing to do is to work individually with kids who are ill,” his mom Melissa Hutchinson told Local 4. “So Mia and I were looking at his water jug one day and they always write ‘Oh there is Aidan and his water jug,’ and there is a picture of him walking in. We were like, ‘Why don’t we write something on that? Lets put something on that. What if we put one of the kids that you met at the hospital?’ He’s like, ‘Oh, that’s awesome. Let’s do it.’”

So they started with the first game of the 2023 season against Kansas City. The Hutchinson family features the children on their social media as well, sharing their story and their GoFundMe links to raise support for them.

Chris Hutchinson, Aidan’s father, said their brand is family. They are very close-knit and do everything together. Including, giving back. They started calling the kids they featured heroes and then they became Hutch Heroes.

House of Hutch is their apparel line.
