Did you know you can dine at this historic home?

It’s like you’re eating at Downton Abbey!

Imagine exploring and dining at a famous estate.

Now imagine that estate is what’s now known as The Ford House, the private residence of Edsel and Eleanor Ford in Grosse Pointe Shores.

A “Live in the D” sponsor, The Ford House, has just opened a new restaurant in a brand-new visitor center.

It’s called The Continental at Ford House, and features beautiful views of Ford Cove on Lake St. Clair.

Executive Chef Michael Keys chatted with host Jason Carr about what you can find at the restaurant.

The menu is very continental, featuring classic dishes that are well-known in the Detroit area, as well as some new “cutting edge” dishes. One of the most popular ones is a Maurice salad, which comes with their homemade popovers served with their honey butter. They also have a triple-level cajun chicken sandwich, an ahi tuna appetizer, and a local favorite, perch.

You can enjoy lunch Tuesday through Saturday, dinner service is available Thursday through Saturday, and they serve a delicious brunch on Sunday.

If you’re a fan of beer, they have a large selection from many Michigan breweries. They also have a nice wine list and cocktail menu. You can get any of these drinks to-go, so you can enjoy them on the beautiful grounds surrounding the Ford House.

Speaking of taking things out on the grounds, you can also get grab-n-go, fresh panini-style sandwiches, salads and coffee as well, at The Speedster. Get whatever tickles your fancy and have a picnic on the grounds.
