From Tati Amare – Who would have ever thought I would get up close and personal with a creepy, crawly bug? It’s all thanks to Bugs on Wheels, a local business whose mission is all about “shedding light on the less-loved creatures of our planet.” Let’s be honest, bugs are often seen as pests that we’re trying to avoid at all costs, but they’re also an important part of our ecosystem, and it’s time to give them a little respect. When Nadia, aka “The Bug Lady,” joined us to give us a little more insight into the world of bugs, she brought in some of her favorite friends to help ... and that’s when the magic happened!
Before the show, I had the chance to get acquainted with a giant African millipede named Henry. He’s the guy in the pic that had me mesmerized -- but he’s nocturnal, so he was in the middle of a nap during the show. So, it’s a good thing we had a chance to meet before the show. I was a little intimidated at first, but he was an amazing creature! His tiny little feet felt like tiny tickles on my hand as he crawled around my hand and wrist. I’m glad I pushed outside of my comfort zone. He was as nice as a bug can be expected to be. Not sure if I’m quite to the level of having the tarantula crawl up my arm like my guest co-host, Hobie. But baby steps ... I couldn’t risk fainting on air. LOL.
