Spice things up with this local restaurant

Not your average pepper

This week’s Takeout Tuesday is spiced up with a unique twist on peppers. The chef and owner behind The Detroit Pepper Company, Marlin Hughes, appeared on “Live in The D” to talk about what these peppers have to offer.

Hughes got his stuffed pepper inspiration back around 12 years ago when his wife asked him to surprise her for her birthday dinner. From there, he surprised her with stuffed peppers. It was such a hit he said when he had the opportunity to start a business with stuffed peppers he would take it, and the rest is history.

You can get fillings with meat options of ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground beef, and a vegan meat option of jack fruit. Another vegan option he has to offer is a bell pepper stuffed with squash and zucchini. Other flavorful toppings are black beans, brown rice, homemade barbeque and marinara sauce, stir-fry vegetables, and much more.

They also offer other menu items such as chili cheese fries, smoothies, and more.
