The fresh seafood event that you can take out
Birmingham restaurant Hazel, Ravines, & Downtown (HRD) has become known for bringing unique seafood flavors to the D. They are living up to the reputation again this year with an all-new East Coast crab shack concept. They are featuring a whole new menu based on Blue Crab from Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. Blue crab is a small crab that you normally cannot enjoy fresh unless you live near the coast. Co-owner and Executive Chef Emmele Herrold says this crab has a mighty, delicious flavor that tastes unlike any crab you have enjoyed in the past. She joined Jason Carr live from her restaurant to show off Hazel’s new crab shack menu which you can take out and bring home for your entire family to eat.

Jason Carr chatted with Radar Perkaj, the co-owner of Spread Detroit about their sandwiches and new business hours. Spread Detroit is a sandwich shop that has unique names for its tasty lunch items. You could try a “Nuna Tuna” sandwich, a “Big Al” or an “Old Kanye” that Perkaj joked is better than the new Kanye. Spread Detroit is also spreading into new business hours and menu items with their new brunch and after-dark menu.

Detroit’s newest bakery offers gourmet takeout meals
Promenade Artisan Foods has just opened their second location in Detroit inside the Fisher Building. Owners Chelsie and Jono Brymer joined Tati Amare from their Detroit location for Take Out Tuesday and talked about what their new location offers. Like the Trenton location, the new Promenade Artisan Foods in Detroit will offer, French Press coffee drinks, artisanal breads, crepes, sandwiches and gourmet grab and go meals. The Detroit location will feature the exact menu as the Trenton location, which changes every season. AdAlthough their menus will be the same, the Detroit location will differ because of its size.

National Chili Dog Day is Thursday and since Detroit is famous for its chili dogs, or Coney dogs as we call them, we thought we would showcase a neighborhood favorite: Lipuma’s Coney Island in Rochester. Tony Lipuma, owner of Lipuma’s, joined Tati Amare from his restaurant via Skype to talk about his restaurant, which has been in his family for generations. Tony says Lipuma’s has takeout meals for everyone.
