Students honor Dakota High student at football game

UTICA, Mich. – Friday night at the Dakota vs Eisenhower game, Dakota students were dressed in white to show their respect for Victoria Cartwright, who was killed when she was hit by a car Friday.

Some of Cartwright's family members attended in custom shirts they made with a picture of the sophomore on the front.

Basically we wanted to put something together, a collage of good memories for the family and for the whole group at the school," her uncle Dale Cartwright told us.

The students passed around a large poster board for everybody to sign. "Seeing the kids sign the poster board and say nice things about our loved one is comforting," her godfather Todd Schultz said.

The students wrote messages of condolence and support. Meanwhile the family has established a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses.
