The company said the agreement was reached when the union dropped its demand that Advanced Disposal participate in a union pension fund that is less than fully funded. The parties agreed to initial wage rates Advanced Disposal proposed in early September 2017.

Employees will return to work Monday, the company said.

Workers began striking Monday because they have been without a contract with Advanced Disposal for more than a year. Members of Operating Engineers Local 324 said that wages and benefits at Arbor Hill are well below those for comparable jobs at other landfills.
