Newspaper Carrier Appreciation Day 🗞️
This day commemorates the hiring of the very first newspaper carrier. Newspaper carriers date back to the early 1800s. In September 1833, 10-year-old Barney Flaherty became the first newspaper carrier. Benjamin Day, publisher of The New York Sun, hired Flaherty to sell papers for his penny press. The only job requirement was that he had to show that he could throw a newspaper into the bushes.
Hear ye, hear ye! We are now offering $5 off tickets to the Renaissance Festival! This year's festival runs weekends and Labor Day, Aug. 17 to Sept. 29. The fun all happens at 12600 Dixie Hwy, Holly, MI 48442.
