Prosecutor: Not enough evidence to issue arrest warrant in 2010 murder of Ferndale man

FERNDALE, Mich. – The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office decided that a warrant request for a cold case murder did not have sufficient evidence for an arrest warrant to be issued.

The request had been submitted in connection with the 2010 murder of Karim Khamarko, 64, of Southfield at his Dollar Club Plus store in Ferndale. Khamarko was found bleeding and having trouble breathing by a witness who called 911 on Nov. 26, 2010, at 9 p.m., according to police.

Police said when officers arrived they discovered Khamarko had been shot several times. He died at a hospital. Since 2010, the case has remained open and detectives have re-examined the case in hopes of finding new information that would bring the killer to justice, according to police.

The case remains an open and active investigation, according to police.
