Former Michigan State University football star Malik McDowell sentenced to 1 year in jail McDowell sentenced after fight with police at gas station
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Former Michigan State University football star Malik McDowell learned his sentence after a fight with police at a gas station in February.
McDowell apologized in court Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to avoid more time behind bars.
“I’m very remorseful an apologize from the bottom of my heart,” McDowell said.
There is video of McDowell wrestling with an officer inside a Lathrup Village gas station after being pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence. He pleaded guilty to charges last month.
“If you give me a chance I’m definitely going to do better,” he said Wednesday.
McDowell was sentenced to one year in jail.
