4 people shot at vigil on Detroit’s east side

Police investigate; no suspect in custody

DETROIT – Four people were injured after someone opened fire at a vigil Friday on Detroit’s east side.

The shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Conant and Minnesota streets.

Police said a group had gathered for a candlelight vigil when an unknown person fired multiple shots into the crowd. A 25-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were shot. They were taken to a hospital and are expected to be OK.

Police do not have a suspect in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
